Cannington Dwellings
Over the recent decade the lack of medium density housing has become an importance issue throughout Australia. Housing is such an important element in the future of our built environment and as designers we must make sure the true living potential is achieved in our urban areas. The concepts aim at developing a medium density (R80) scheme that will positively transform a neighborhood and regenerate our urban areas. The scheme is to be designed on the lot 110A Hamilton Street within the Cannington precinct. It will follow the framework of the ‘Design WA Planning Policy 7’ and ‘Apartment Design Policy.’ As well as the National Construction Code (NCC BCA) and the residential construction code. By following the mentioned guidelines and framework, the design seeks to achieve an attractive, accessible and persuasive housing option for the mass market. The design tests a variety of spatial and structural typologies to meet the needs of a variety of households.
